About
Benjamin Dinkel
I am an Engineer with a master degree in renewable powers. I worked in office jobs for about ten years, first designing the heating, cooling and ventilation systems for large buildings. Later I worked for nearly 5 years consulting municipalities in Northern Germany on renewable projects of various scopes.
Through permaculture and the ideas of sufficiency I realized that many people's needs can be met with low-tech approaches. "Appropriate technology" uses solutions that are simple, functional, and accessible to the people that need them. Systems that can be maintained, serviced and adapted by the users without the need for professionals.

As I learned more about natural building throguh courses, gatherings and working with a natural builder, I realized there is more to it than just being the latest trend. It's beautiful to work with available, non-toxic materials to create long-lasting structures that use reliable, traditional techniques.

The continued popularity of wood-stoves in Andalucía surprised me when I first arrived, but I now understand it as part of the close connection that people still have with the land. So how could people be more comfortable while providing their heating needs with minimal firewood and pollution?

Weaving together my interest in heating solutions, my fascination for fire, and the timeless beauty of natural building I decided to build Rocket Mass Heaters professionally. My goal is to provide comfortable heat with appropriate technology (including locally sourced and recycled material) and thus enable people to sustain their own heat needs economically and ecologically.
